I say ideal morning routine because let's be honest, having a routine with your baby and actually sticking to it is hard. But, it's nice to have a general plan to follow every morning to start our day on the right track. So, here are the highlights of our mornings.

6:30 am –

We usually wake up around 6:30. We start with using the potty. At four months old, we started Elimination Communication which we have loved. At night we use diapers and overall do an 80/20 cloth diapering system and when we get up, I start our morning routine by putting her on her little potty to see if she has to go to the bathroom.

6:45 am –

After using the potty, I go to brush my teeth. I don't know why I brush my teeth in the kitchen, but that's just where I do it. While I'm doing this, I give Aliya a toothbrush too and just let her chew on it so she can just get used to it and have something to play with while she's watching me brush my teeth.

6:50 am –

Once the babe and I have both gone potty, I fill up my water for the day. I drink A LOT of water and have a GIANT gallon sized water bottle that I use to keep me hydrated throughout the day. I fill it with water that we filter through our Clearly Filtered pitcher. Before using Clearly Filtered, I had NO idea how many toxins can be in our tap water. I use the filtered water in my gallon water bottle every morning, our coffee machine, the water I use when I cook rice, and now a little in babe’s sippy cup too! Basically, anything that needs water… even my diffuser. My mom says the water actually tastes different and I swear I have more energy when I drink this filtered water.

7:00 am –

I'm trying to make smoothies for myself in the mornings. It's just a great way to get everything in your system right away. I've been using Teami Greens. I love having the greens in my smoothies because I used to add spinach, avocados, and cucumbers and now I don't have to have all of those things to still have a healthy smoothie and a couple servings of veggies. It also has matcha in it which is amazinggg for a little energy boost. But, if you're pregnant or breastfeeding ask your doctor first. I mix the greens with frozen berries, oat milk (I swear oats help my milk supply) and usually throw some chia seeds and cinnamon in. And this is where it gets crazy…I add turmeric to my smoothies and turmeric is best absorbed with black pepper so I add black pepper too, but you really can't taste it. So, if you're looking for an easy way to fit in your greens while getting a little health boost AND a kick of caffeine in the morning, this is a great way to do it.

7:30 am –

Something I started doing was trying to do a little bit of makeup every day. I keep it very minimal, but still make an effort to include it in our morning routine. I saw a TikTok of someone using this eye cream and she said every day she puts the cream on the back of her hand and then onto her face and has noticed a drastic difference in the skin on her two hands. So, I bought the eye cream. Then, I usually just throw on a little under eye concealer, this eyebrow gel (which is the greatest thing ever), some mascara, and call it a day.

7:40 am –

A friend of mine lent us this learning tower, which the babe loves. Plus, it's great for development. Usually in the mornings, I listed to an audio book or some music or something too so playing and listening to something are usually our next activities.

8:00 am –

The babe usually eats about an hour to an hour and a half after she wakes up. So, next, I put her in her high chair. Here are some tips on choosing the best high chair, according to a pediatric dietitian. We also do baby led weaning so while she's feeding herself, I feed myself. I like to make spinach eggs in the mornings. I chop the spinach, put some oil in the pan, and scramble that with eggs in the pan.

8:30 am –

When she eats, it can make a MESS. So, usually after breakfast, I vacuum. I love our vacuum and use it every day (like, MULTIPLE times per day). It is expensive, but I got it on Black Friday and it's worth it. Every time I use it, I'm like “man, I am grateful to have this thing”. I also usually do other miscellaneous chores during this time like unloading the dishwasher. I'm literally always in the kitchen so I filled one of the bottom kitchen drawers with random items the babe can play with when I'm doing things like this. We just open the drawer and let her go for it. This is one of my many mom hacks and it definitely helps our morning routine go a little smoother.

9:15 am –

After we're done in the kitchen, we use this time to watch a show and just power down before nap time. We're usually hanging out in our California Beach Co. We seriously use this all the time and absolutely love it. I cannot recommend it enough! You can use my code HEYSHAYLA for an extra 10% off of whatever sale they're running.

So, there's our typical morning routine. Of course every day is different and we don't adhere to a strict schedule, but it's nice to have somewhat of a routine to start the day off.
