keep baby safe in the sun

It's FINALLY starting to get warm and I don't know about you but we cannot wait to get outside!! I put together somethings you may want to consider grabbing before heading out with your little one to keep your baby safe in the sun!

1. Natural (and sensitive skin) Baby Sunscreen

Don't forget the baby sunscreen.
Maybe we have an umbrella, the long sleeve swimming suit, and the hat, but we still want to make sure their fresh little skin isn't getting too much sun! (We're crazy as moms).
These are my two favorite natural brands. I haven't used either of them yet (summer has just started) but they are what I'll be using this summer Earth Mama Organics Sensitive Sunscreen and Tubby Todd Sun Stick! You really cannot go wrong with either!

2. One-piece swimming suit (Instead of a 2 piece)

A friend of mine gave me this little tip. She said a one-piece swimming suit is where it's at! She had both types for her son and they kept reusing the one piece. She said the two-piece kept separating and exposing his little belly. She said it wasn't worth the hassle.

3. Hat (with a strap) & sunglasses (with a strap)

If you plan on being by the water, remember that the water will reflect the sun into your baby's face. Make sure you grab a sun hat and/or some sunnies (with the attachment to keep them on!).
We snagged a hat with a chin strap, which is perfect for the wind and for a baby who can easily yank it off!

4. Floaty (with shade)

Either a baby life jacket or floaty with some shade while they're in the pool. Obviously, someone will always be right there with them, but these things are a must for safety! There are also bracelets that sound when they get wet if you wanted to go the extra mile (or frequently go to a lake or pool).

5. SPF Long sleeve lightweight clothing to keep baby safe in the sun

We want to make sure we keep babies covered! We went on a hike recently and I was super glad that I had a breathable long sleeve shirt for my daughter. I wanted to protect her from the sun without overheating her. Coolibar and UVSkin are two brands I found that create SPF clothing!
But otherwise look for cotton, linen, rayon shirts!

6. Pop and play, the best for shade from the sun

I recommended the California Beach Co. as a place for them to sleep. It also makes an incredible place to get babe some shade while playing (shade cover included)! I recommend this because it's so easy to travel with.
(HEYSHAYLA gives you an extra 10% off on any sale they're running)

7. Stroller fan, keep your baby cool

If you're going to be out in hot weather for an extended time, a stroller fan is a great idea! At the beach, in the stroller or car seat!

8. Sippy cup/ bottle… hydration!!

Keep your babes hydrated! Before babe turns one, my doctor recommended Pedialyte instead of water, so check with your doctor!
Regardless, do not forget the bottle or sippy cup (this one is my FAVORITE) She started using it at 9 months and it does not leak… unless she throws it off her high chair. If you don't have an easy way to wash them or will be using more than water, I'd recommend bringing a few.

Have so much fun out there this summer and keep your babes safe!
