CHECKLIST
————–
– 2 batteries charged
– Clear your SD Card
– Script ready (see Script chapter)
– Is my “spot ready” (see Your Spot chapter)
– Title picked (See Title chapter)
– Now let's get into it.

I’m going to be honest with you here, I might benefit the most for making this list because I fail at these things nearly Every. Single. Time.
I’ll be the first to tell you that this list is so simple it’s almost common sense BUT I can also tell you when you finally have everything set up, you’re ready, the lighting is perfect and then… your camera battery is dead, or dies mid way through filming it's probably THE most annoying thing.
So here are things you should have ready the day before or at least before you hit record.
1. TWO batteries charged.
Yes, two. Sometimes while I’m setting up my spot I leave my camera on and by the time I’m ready to film there is only a half battery left. Other times the first one really isn’t charged like I thought. Or my camera overheats and because the battery is the warmest part, I swap that and I’m good to go. Just have one on deck ready to go… just in case.
2. Clear your SD Card
This is great practice to keep you organized. Otherwise halfway through recording your card will be full, half of them are saved, half of them aren't and its a big mess when all you really want to do is just record your video!
3. Script ready (see Script chapter)
You want to have this done the night before, or just before you start filming, it helps you to organize your thoughts so you're moving in a specific direction and you think of stories to support your points.
4. Is my “spot ready” (see Your Spot chapter)
I usually do this day of, but knowing where you’re going to film, what time of day (for the best window lighting), when other people will be home etc. means fewer things to worry about.
5. Pick your title (See Title chapter)
If you know your title before you press record you can say it in the opening minute. This lets the viewers know it's not clickbait and they're going to get what they came here for!
I didn't do this when I started and I would just talk and then have to make up a title that kind of worked with what I was talking about!
That's it! Now it should be smooth sailing for you!!
