Pure freaking sunshine🌞

She was a shock to my world when she was born. I’d never been relied on my anything like that before. It felt like the sweetest blessing and a gnarly curse.
But slowly I learned how to become a mother.
I learned how to slow down - to avoid meltdowns.
How to go with the flow - because rarely does it go the way you have planned.
To choose the best thing for my family and support others in their decisions for theirs.
To do what works - until it doesn’t.
To be prepared but more important, to improvise.
To practice compassion instead of frustration to keep us all calm.

I’ve learned how to be a Mother, and I’m so grateful to this little teacher.

Cheers @sethoutside! To having a two year old 😭 and a newborn. No one else could handle this the way you do.
Grateful to love you.

Little Esme James was born one day after her due d

Little Esme James was born one day after her due date, just an oz more than her big sister, with a head full of dark curly hair!

When she was ready to come, she came fast and was born in the water! @sethoutside was the actual best (and had the best Dad outfit that he wore with a straight face walking out of the hospital) 😂🙌👏👏

AJ already “boops” her nose and wants to hold her… always.

I’m looking forward to this rainy weekend soaking up the snuggles and hibernating with my new little family❤️

My heart is full and I’m so grateful.

2 years ago Seth and I got engaged and it was perfect.

We got up early to catch sunrise on the Stone Arch Bridge, then we planned on driving to Duluth for sandwiches 😂

These were just things we did, so I didn’t think twice about it and was honestly shocked when he proposed.

I also noticed a random guy (@samholtimages) snapping pictures of us as it was all going down!

As we were leaving I very enthusiastically approached him to exchange contact information. He told me he was there grabbing pictures of eagles. Little did I know him and @sethoutside were friends and Seth asked him to be there!

Then we got some donuts, headed to Duluth and got our sandwiches and wandered around.

The past two years have been wild, the next two are going to be more insane.
I am so lucky to be doing it with you @sethoutside, can’t wait keep learning and grow together.❤️❤️❤️

When you’re making healthier swaps in your life, do you focus on healthy for you (and your babe) or healthy for the Earth?
Because, unfortunately, we usually have to choose…
BUT every once in a while, we don’t! When I find these gems I want to share them with you!

#ad @gardenoflife is the prenatal multivitamin I’ve taken through both pregnancies because it’s made from whole foods. So when they reached out and asked if I’d be on board to share that they are a CARBON NEUTRAL COMPANY I was absolutely on board!

First, because my favorite collaborations are with companies that I already use and love and second because that means not only are they incredible for me, they’re also incredible for the Earth!

Would you do an in home family/maternity shoot? A

Would you do an in home family/maternity shoot?

At first you think “oh that would be so cute!” Then you start to look around and think omg my house cannot be used for a photoshoot!

Well…
I’m so glad we did.

Because of the way IG crops photos you can’t see all of this, BUT there are marks on the wall from where the trash can rubbed from opening and closing, I see the decor I put too much thought into, I see our first home.

Then you hop on Pinterest and search “in home photoshoot ideas”. My goal for this was, again, memories.

AJ loves to dance in the living room to Macklemore holding hands (even at 6am😅). When she’s upset she yells “HUG!” and I sit on the floor to hug her, she loves making pancakes with dad, and this girl LOVES pigtails.

Capturing these memories was so important to me and @sammi.jackson_ did such a great job!

So I say do the in home shoot, sit down the night before to think about the moments from this time you want to keep.
They likely won’t be studio perfect, but they will mean everything to you ❤️

These photos are literally just screenshots from the Q&A video with Seth on my YouTube channel but I thought they were pretty great.

I debated taking that video down bc half of you watching fell in love with Seth 😂😂🙌🙌

He’s such a great human, we have our ups and downs but over all he’s my greatest decision yet.

The other day I was *hormonally crying* to him explaining my life is about to take a huge pause and his gets to keep going (after his paternity leave 🙌). That I had all of these huge goals for my business that were going to come to a screaming halt.

He listened and then he asked, “What is your number one priority?”

Thinking he was talking about work I said “To crush the goals I set for myself!” 💪💪💪

Then he clarified, “No, for your life”.

Woof.

Did that put things into perspective.

So I cried… again.

And I realized it’s to make sure my little babies feel loved and supported. That they’re growing and learning to be kind, curious and brave. And also it’s important to me that Seth feels all of these things too.

This yanked me out of my tailspin and put things into perspective.

Things WILL come to a screeching halt soon, but only to make space to love a new human.
To make time for nurturing our new baby and continue to support AJ and give room to support each other.

Does that make it easier? No. Are things still going to be hard as hell? Yes.
But it also doesn’t have to be a tug of war with my to-do list. It can be a submission and a settling in.

So, yes, things will stop but only so other *very important* things can start.

How was your transition to two? Please share the wisdom!

To be honest little one, I’m a bit afraid of you.

I can feel your actual feet in my sides now and which means your arrival is fast approaching.

With your sister, the transition was hard and it finally feels like we’re catching a groove.

I’m worried about my love doubling and another human who will need me 24/7.
About lack of sleep and and no lack of hormones.

As my thoughts begin to feel really heavy it’s like my mind throws me buoy and I make it to the surface.

I have optimistic thoughts that this time it will be easier.
Like I’ll soak up the slow pace, instead of try to rush it.
I’ll have more confidence and can let go of worrying about messing you up with every decision we make. Is that nieve?

I remember the moment your sister was born, the newborn snuggles and sweet noises. I picture you two meeting for the first time and the relationship you’ll have.
Like all things there will ALWAYS good and there will ALWAYS bad, and knowing the one I feed is the one I’ll feel.

So as I sit here soaking up these moments with your sister. I’m excited to share them with you too. Less than 2 months to go and we’re no where near ready, but also couldn’t be more ready for you.
You are already so loved, we are grateful, we are excited.
